Aelin is a modern literary name strongly associated with Aelin Galathynius, the central heroine of Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. The books gave the spelling broad visibility as a personal name. It is sometimes linked online with Turkish Aylin, meaning a halo around the moon, but Aelin is not the standard Turkish spelling and that derivation should not be assumed. Its best-established history is therefore literary rather than traditional Turkish usage.
